I would disagree that the color picker is an example of the kind of
split button being described. I think the defining characteristic of a
split button is demonstrated in this re-creation of a desktop email
app toolbar:

The button has a default action, but the drop-down offers variations
on that default action. So, in the Amazon example, you can click the
button to add to the default wish list, or click the arrow to see more
options.
