There were a couple of things about Alan's talk that didn't sit well
with me. I understood the argument of "Best to market" but I wonder
if stressing that limits the spirit of invention. Can we still
invent?
Also, while I respect and believe in rigorous methods%u2014I've seen
the "fuzzy" front end be a very effective way to drive effective
solutions. The rigor can still be injected in the process. I may
have misunderstood the spirit of the talk%u2014but I do believe that
sometimes we can confuse rigor for rigid (as I mentioned in my talk).
And where does the community come into the picture. Apple's
community wants a more "open" iPhone environment. We want more
choice and personalization of our experience with the iPhone. Where
does this fit into what Alan was saying?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
