[IxDA Discuss] how to get into IxD

Dear Folks,

I'm writing to the list to ask the advice of anyone in a helpful mood on
moving into interaction design.  I've had a long career in IT and want to
move into something both more people-oriented and more creative than code
development.

Given what you know now about the field, what would be your recommended
course of study for someone wanting to redefine herself as an IX designer?
What degree?  If you care to suggest, what schools?

I'm at a point in life where I can do pretty much whatever I like in terms
of relocating for school.

So, if you had it to do over, and you could do it any way you liked, how
would you get into your profession -- again??
