I switch desktop wallpapers once or twice a week, depending on my mood mostly.

I've grown fond of several wallpapers I downloaded from wallpaperstock (http://wallpaperstock.net/), especially the nature category (Fuji-san, Mont Saint-Michel!, the pyramids, many forests, seascapes, etc.). One of their "autumn" ones is on my desktop today.

Others include Magritte's "Ceci n'est pas une pipe", a fake old russian poster, some home-made pictures of almost-closed curtains, a tub of "this is really great(tm) yoghurt", a closeup of icecubes, and my son, plus the odd former office interior, commercial ones like Bravia or Treehugger, a Dutch jazz poet, and some snowboard images.

For a collection of desktops of Linux users, see: http://www.lynucs.org/ (at the bottom of the rightmost column you'll see a link labeled "all screenshots" that links to a barely working filtering page.

Oh, and there's this set on Flickr: transparent desktops! http://www.flickr.com/photos/w00kie/sets/180637/
