I've heard about tangible interfaces for that but can't recall
exactly where. Basically users had a foam ball that they squeezed
according to their frustration level. The harder they squeezed, the
more frustrated they were. This worked well because it only involves
the limbic part of the brain. Since users don't have to translate it
into language (number scale or adjectives) the results are more
accurate.
