This is exactly what I've been trying to get at. I do
not believe that Interaction Design *must* be
delivered as a visual artifact and what has me on
edge, here, is precisely that people see "design" as a
visual discipline and I do not think that is accurate
within the field of Interaction Design. 

Perhaps we can consider visual thinking as the
qualitative equivalent of the measure-based thinking
of the other aspects of Interactive Design. I
understand that idea...but it's inaccurate to position
the supremacy of quality over quantity as solely the
province of visual thinking.

I don't believe that it's necessary to allow people to
continue to consider design as primarily a visual
field as your message implies. I think that deprives
our clients of some of our most critical and important
work, is a fast route to disenfranchising those who
come at Interaction Design from a different discipline
and risks discouraging the entry of a generation of
Interaction Designers who do not have a background in
"visual thinking".
