[IxDA Discuss] "Cutting Edge" Web Design References

I'm looking to brush up on what are considered to be "cutting edge"
techniques for web design--especially in terms of layout and the utilization
of CSS (rather than a focus on the use of AJAX.)  I am still using mostly
table-based layouts and am starting to feel like something of a dinosaur.
Can anyone recommend any good web references and/or some good books on the
subject?
