Josef Albers says that colors have all their impact when they're with other
colors.
Red is more red when it's near yellow. I think you should have studies on
the
colour mixed.
There are an excellent book about what you say: Pantone Guide to
Communicating with Color, by Leatrice Eiseman. She explain how colors affect
our mood.
