Hi Sarah,

Will search be the only way that the students will have to find their
classes? I think search works provided that there is controlled
vocabulary or keywords available that match all of the different terms
people might use to find a course.

However, you might take a look at the search at the British Columbia
Institute of Technology. I'm not a student there (my husband is) but I
remember being impressed with their advanced search feature, which
works more like a course selector rather than a keyword search.

You can see it here: http://www.bcit.ca/study/  - this page has the
simple keyword search on it, but if you click the 'advanced search'
link, you'll see the course picker I mentioned.
