Hey folks, I'm happy to announce the formation of a new F2F in Waterloo,
Ontario, the heart of Canada's "technology triangle". Two months ago, I
joined forces with Navid Sadikali, a UX designer here in town at Agfa, to
host a couple events to test the waters and see who we could entice to show
up. Well, response was terrific. Just over 40 people have participated,
enough to convince us to make a real go of this starting next September.
In the meantime, we're holding one more event before summer hits. On June
14, we're offering seven people a chance to talk for seven minutes each
about any topic related to IxD/UX, in an event called "The 7-Minute
Soapbox". Details on my blog at:

FYI, here's a look at our previous two events.
The first event in April was a pair of 45-minute case studies from both me
and Navid. Navid described some recent work on exploring visual UI metaphors
to support a strategic rebranding of Agfa's medical products; I described
how some design research I performed a few years ago for FedEx significantly
altered the direction of a web application.
We followed this event with a showing of Heather Fraser's DMI webcast on
Design Thinking in early May. Despite the 1:00 pm time, about 20 people
showed up. (Got to admit, I was amazed at the turnout.) Also, I highly
recommend Heather's talk; IMHO it was a terrific description of the value
that design thinking brings to business. Find it here:

If you're in the Southwestern Ontario region and would like to get involved
with this new group, drop me a line.
