Hi Kristen,
I recommended Axure for our design team about six months ago - we had a
lot of designing and specing to do in a short time and wanted to speed
the production process. I have been using it since and am pleased with
it overall. I appreciate in particular: that it was easy to learn;
allows me to annotate as I design vs. as a separate process; has a nice
sitemap tool, and makes building a prototype "site" effortless.
(I have formerly used DreamWeaver, Photoshop, and Visio for creating
wireframes and interactive prototypes, and Word for writing detailed
functional specs.)
I wish Axure had more choice RE: UI control objects, but I have had
pretty good luck pulling in controls from Visio.

Subject: [IxDA Discuss] Experience with Axure RP?
Is there anyone out there who has been using Axure for
creating wireframes, sitemaps and/or specs who's
interested in sharing their experience?
We've been looking at the tool for our own use (we mostly
use Visio and Fireworks now) and are wondering just how
much more efficient it is for creating documentation, and
how it's working for others.
So how is it?
k
