Hi david, to your point

Does it really help? How do we think a certificate would help a hiring
manager evaluate skills? I suppose we are not expecting they get impressed
by a certificate issued by an institution they don't know much about.
Certfication doesn't sound solid to me, but I would respect it if it comes
from a reputed educational institution. Coming from IxDA it would sound a
bit of a bureaucratic idea. Maybe it would bring a more serious perception
for our discipline and Association, but just maybe. As we are young and
diverse, maybe we need a more contemporary way to look at it. You know I am
not a big fan of the Master-Apprentice relationship, and certificates sound
too much like that for me.
By the way, I like your idea of starting a closer relationship with academic
institutions and let them permeate our work in a more efficient way. It is a
way to get closer to academia without trying to become more academic
ourselves, or trying to do their work.
Mauro
