Jeff has suggested device conceptually different from the digitizing pen,
scanner or DigiMemo:
1. It is self-sufficient (yet it can be easily complemented by digital
whiteboard or laptop).
1.1. The feedback is immediate.
2. It uses the infinite zoom, described some years ago by another Jef,
Raskin - an elegant solution for "limitless" nested hierarchies. Great for
prototyping complex relationships between and across different levels of
information. Here is an example of site map:
http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/pad++/sitemap/
3. It has handwriting recognition built-in - the ability to
search/tag/organize information.
I think this device in combination with digital whiteboard (this is my
*suggested
enhancement* for the digital notepad: multiple devices should be able to
connect to digital whiteboard, some of them remotely - San Francisco to
ongoing prototyping session in Boston) would be imminently
useful prototyping tool. Much more powerful than current paper
notepad/scanner/computer/whiteboard combination.
