[IxDA Discuss] My desktop is invading the web

Hi Matt,

This has been going on for a while now. If you have a personal firewall
installed (Norton, Zone Alarm, etc) and configured to disable popups or ads,
the application dynamically rewrites the page code prior to handing it off
to the browser. If you view the HTML on the page you can sometimes see
comments added where replacements have been made.

Browsers themselves are full of options to change the way the HTML is either
interpreted or rendered, and plug-ins like Adblock for Firefox allow even
more manipulation. I don't know how many non-geeks take advantage of such
things though.
