I do not think a single page drag and drop between two 'bins' can be
compared with desktop drag and drop between two windows.  You're able to
illustrate the functionality in a single window with some text and/or
graphics.  I feel many desktop users have not yet discovered drag/drop,
drag/select etc because the desktop is unable to explain this capability in
any way.

Here is a very early version of a grouping feature used to bulk config dumb
devices.  In relation to this thread, items in the top panel can be selected
one at a time and dropped in to the bottom bin which has a fixed capacity.

My users are technical (to say the least) but I feel its fairly obvious what
you can do on this screen.  This wireframe was rendered in to a prototype
with the scriptaculous libraries.
