To me, what you are suggesting is perfectly acceptable for a given user,
technically savvy maybe, on a project with requirements that fit that need,
tight budget possibly? As someone pointed out, we weren't given the
technical requirements. What I'm surprised about is that no one has asked;
for what level of user is this for? Myself included.
The original analogy of taking only as many apples from a cart that you
could carry struck me as something everyone can interpret and accept as a
feasible interaction constraint. At least anyone who's been shopping.
For those who don't spend all day interacting with 'infernal machines'. An
array of little white circles with various spots in them isn't that far off
the street trickster with his three cups and a ball... smoke and mirrors and
to be approached with caution until you can figure out whats going on.
