On yoru list the only "designy" conference is Connecting07.org
The program is vague b/c they just closed their call for papers. (I
have 2 and my fingers are double crossed.) Given that Bill Moggridge
is Chairing and they have a track for the virtual this might be a good
place for someone who is looking for something different.

This is also a RARE opportunity as it is not really an IDSA
conference, but an international congress for Industrial Design. These
happen every 2 years and its the first time in 22 years its been in
the US. It is at the top of my list this year.

On another note, the DUX2007.org site is up. I was not all that
hopeful about DUX this time around after 2005, but I am again because
Parrish Hanna is one of the chairs. The theme is social-mediation
which I think is too specific and playing off the hype. Most of us
aren't doing that work, though we do all get excited about the whole
Web 2.0 thing.

If you are willing to look for conferences in Europe you might find
some interesting stuff. There is an IxD conference in Germany coming
up with some good folks mentioned on this list already a couple of
times and there is also a conference coming up in June in Sweden that
looks interesting.

On a different conference type designers in the UX space should
definitely consider GEL (Good Experience Live) in NYC.
www.goodexperience.com/gel. It isn't about practice, but rather about
inspiration. There is also a Euro edition in Denmark.

Last year there were a few other Euro conferences like LIFT and SHIFT
that seemed interesting and there was an IxD conference in Italy but I
haven't seen 07 word on these.

Anyway, good luck conference goers.

Oh! I'm going t be at the IA Summit. I'm teaching IxD at a
pre-conference where the proceeds go to IxDA. Learning IxD while
learning how to design RIAs. This is a 1/2 day version of the workshop
that Bill Scott and I have taught twice now at UIE conferences: UI11
and the Web Application Summit to some pretty nice reviews. This one
will be even more focused on designing, and less on defining.

One reason I like the IA Summit so much is that while it is called the
IA Summit and the program looks like it is geared to IAs, the crowd is
all over the UX map. It is definitely a hallway conference that I
enjoy and this year there is going to be a barcamp-like Flex track, so
who knows what's going to happen!
