[IxDA Discuss] Building portal with MOSS2007 - best practices?

I am about to embark on a small consulting project with MOSS 2007.
Information architecture and visual design. Is there practical, concise
resource for the best practices for SharePoint 2007 portal deployment? For
instance, I know from experience that SharePoint 2003 was suitable (with
quirks) for document storage, however task tracking was rather unusable. I
am looking for similar practical advice for MOSS2007.

PS Unfortunately search for 'best practices' is spammed by a piece of
software named  'MOSS2007 Best Practices Analyzer' by the Microsoft's
marketing folks. Clever, but not really helpful.
