I think the best way would be to develop high-fidelity prototypes for
each GUI component (maybe using flash or something similar to
simulate functionality) and then testing each one with about 3
different users. Maybe you could have a set of about 20 different
users for the sole purpose of rotating them amongst GUI testing.
