[IxDA Discuss] A more usable font for highway signs

Interesting (even if it is an off-topic question).  My initial
thoughts were that the signs were punched from a sheet of steal with
a die as opposed to being cut with a band saw; so rounded corners
would simply be machined into the punch and it should be a single
process of stamping out signs with rounded corners.  But it turns out
they are in fact cut with a saw, so any rounding would need to be done
as a separate step.  The unfinished look then is probably a function
of keeping manufacturing costs down.
