In general, voice recognition software that accepts free dictation
(rather than a set of voice commands) is speaker-dependent and needs
to be trained to the voice of its user. Don't know how good the latest
versions of Dragon are, but I suspect you may get lots of mistakes.
There is, however, one technique which could be applicable for
transcribing with the aid of voice recognition. Train the software
with your voice, then listen to the interviews in (almost) real time
and repeat back to the microphone what you are listening (possibly
shortening or skipping non-interesting parts). This technique is used
in the broadcasting world for creating subtitles of live programming
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtitles#Live_subtitles).
By the way, MS Word comes with a speech recognition engine as far as I
know, so it may be possible to try this without Dragon.
Hope this helps,
Alex
