As I indicated in my reply to Rob, one of the reasons to NOT post to this list is the fact that knowing the local language is so important for our work. This makes posting to an international list a shot with a low hit:miss ratio.

Every now and then I do approach individual contributors with Dutch(-sounding) names. Not immediately to offer them a job (I usually try to have something useful to say in reply to their posting) but to add them to my network of potential future employees. Asking well-informed questions on a relevant mailing list is an indicator of quality, if you ask me.

Our real job postings go on our site (the official version), get sent to local mailing lists and community sites, are mentioned at network events or sent to individuals for further, private distribution, and get known through word-of-mouth (one of the good things of hiring freelancers; they get around). Oh, and we track CVs/Resumes on Monster.com for keywords.
