Some of the books I've found most helpful over the past few years are books that I can give to others. Perhaps no book fits that bill better than Dan's Designing for Interaction. It's such a nice, concise, but still rigorous tome and it's written in a way that folks that are new to the discipline can digest.

On that same vein I've found the book Unstuck by Keith Yamashita and Sandra Spataro to be really useful (It's been around a few years and I came to it late). There's also a nice Web site that supports it.( http://www.unstuck.com/)
