[IxDA Discuss] Interactive video on two screens

Hi All,
I just joined this list and am not sure if I'm in the right area, but...here's my question.
I'm a web designer and I just got a new job at a major university. The first thing my boss wants me to do is ... okay, let me try to explain:

There is a big screen monitor with a smaller touchscreen below it in the lobby of one of the buildings. Right now the big montior shows a powerpoint slide show and the touchscreen does nothing. He wants me to make buttons on the touchscreen that will play a short movie on the big screen when you press the button (or actually your choice of small movies according to the buttons). So, my problem is:

1) What software should I use? Flash? Plain HTML? Director? Pressing a button and getting a small movie to play should be somewhat simple (I think) but 

2) how do you get it to play on a different monitor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 

This is in a windows environment. 
I've never done something like this and he knows it, but he wants to see how I do with this "challenge." Great :(
