"Only recently"?!

As a design consultant that's combined industrial design with
interface/interaction/experience/system design since 1983, I can only
boggle at such a claim.

I mean, even with ZIBA, Bill, its founder Sohrab Voussoughi visited
me at my office in the early 1990s to discuss interaction design and
the importance of whole product design. And my work in collaboration
with Lunar Design went back years prior to that. Industrial Design
was embracing the idea of interaction design way before the web came
along, and in *multiple places.*

There's a *lot* of interaction design history that's not been
acknowledged or recognized, despite the big organizations currently
discussing their versions of the discipline's history.
