For the web, someone recently mentioned this book
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Defensive-Design-Web-Improve-Messages/dp/073571410X/sr=11-1/qid=1162562501/ref=sr_11_1/202-0720799-8062267,
read throughout the reviews, there are for all tastes.
I guess that the book is more about how to present those errors messages but most important is
write the application in a way that error will be minimized. Check out his another book "Code
Complete 2"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Code-Complete-Practical-Handbook-Construction/dp/0735619670/sr=1-1/qid=1162562517/ref=pd_bowtega_1/202-0720799-8062267?ie=UTF8&s=books,
it has a full chapter on how to write code to minimize errors. I can't tell you what chapter
because I got the book at home and right now I am in the office but the book is for developers.
