Hi Olga,
After seeing Dave demo it at the IA Summit, I used Kayak.com as an example
of "explorable information spaces" at our company's engineering conference
in May. It was a big hit! Six weeks later, people still bring it up as an
example of "thinking off the page." It was especially effective to compare
it with Orbitz.com (e.g. ability to tweak departure/arrival times,
experiment with nearby airports, etc, all without running another
seconds-long query).
Hopefully, more people will respond with examples they run into on a daily
basis (surely there are better examples out there than our typical go-tos of
iTunes/iPod). I'd also recommend tracking Gina Tripani's www.lifehacker.com.
She regularly recommends applications that approach the annoyances of life
in novel ways.
Hope that helps,
- Nasir
