Hi Lisa,
I assume that your GPS/ LBS application will either be a native application (using the handset's UI), or a downloadable Java application.
Some handset manufacturer's make their UI guidelines available, particularly for open operating systems (i.e. Symbian Series 60). Other handset manufacturers have proprietary UIs, in which case you will likely need to have a relationship (and an NDA) in place to view their style guides. Here are a
couple of UI guidelines/ style guides that come to mind:
* Nokia Series 40: http://tinyurl.com/mp8w7
* Nokia Series 60: http://tinyurl.com/lv2ua <http://tinyurl.com/lv2ua>
* Nokia Series 80 (Communicator): http://tinyurl.com/n56sw <http://tinyurl.com/n56sw>
* (Former) Nokia Series 90 (Nokia 7710, touch-screen): http://tinyurl.com/njqag <http://tinyurl.com/njqag>
* UIQ (touch screen, SE P800, P900, P910, etc.): http://tinyurl.com/p4sbq <http://tinyurl.com/p4sbq>
If you are developing an over-the-air downloadable GPS/ LBS application, you'll likely be designing a Java MIDP2 UI. The following guides should be relevant:
