[IxDA Discuss] design by committee??

While we can discuss how the UX designer can improve the situation a  
bit, this is really a management issue. That may sound odd, but the  
ability to put in place good teams with good processes is the role of  
management. If everyone understands their roles and how they can  
contribute to a common vision, then these issues seldom come up.

In one team it may be less of an issue what typeface is chosen for a  
menu, whereas in another the product may live and die by the  
typography. If the whole team doesn't have a common understanding of  
the underlying goals that drive design decisions, then we run into  
conflict.
