[IxDA Discuss] how to implement a dialogue?

I agree that dialogs on the web should be used
sparingly, but I definitely think there are times when
one can be used effectively. Recently I have created
them for saving a shared query, detailed information
related to the current working project and progress
status. I prefer to create an absolutely positioned
<div> that contains the dialog contents with a second
<div> below it with transparency set to 50%. This is
an easy way to disable interaction with the underlying
window contents. I also like to put a title bar on the
dialog <div> with a close [X] button in the upper
right hand corner. A very low priority enhancement is
to allow it to be moved, so I normally position it
centered horizontally and positioned below the banner
on the primary page.
