Okay, I was waiting for somebody on the list
to bring up the Zoomerang widgets. :^) I'm pretty
happy with Zoomerang from a functional standpoint, but
I do wish they'd have kept to a more traditional
radio button and check box presentation....
Robert.

Hey, I'm all for change, as long as the change works.
I don't think this is a case of "stick the conventions b/c they work". I
think this is the case of just plain bad interaction design. I.e. I could
use the "re-designed" widgets for XP, Flash MX, and Win2000, or even MacOS
and I will probably understand them pretty well. They all have their own
"style" but they function to the task very well. It could be said that they
are skins on the same widgets which would support the conventions they
represent, but you could say that that is what zoomerang is trying to do as
well.
I guess what I'm saying is that "making it your own" is not necessarily a
bad decision. Its all in the implementation. ;)
